Interfax is the main information partner at London energy conference

LONDON. June 26 (Interfax) - The Interfax news agency is the main information partner at today's Russian-British energy conference, a major business event that came as part of President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Britain.

Apart from Interfax, the conference's organizers include the Russian Energy Ministry, the British Trade and Industry Ministry, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, British Petroleum and Shell International.

British Prime Minister Blair and Russian President Putin greeted the participants in the event. At the conference, officials from the two countries signed a bilateral memorandum on the vital North European (North TransGas) gas pipeline project.

The conference also addressed a number of other key issues, including Russia's role on the global natural gas market, options for Gazprom's natural gas deliveries to Europe and energy cooperation between the EU and Russia.

The event's agenda also included ways of financing and carrying out business projects, reforms of the gas sector, environmentally- friendly technologies and environmental protection.

Representatives of Gazprom, British Petroleum, Shell International, Tyumen Oil Company (TNK), Itera, Yukos, Rosneft, Sibneft and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) attended the conference.
