Unit at South Ukrainian NPP shuts down over false activation of safetysystem
KYIV. May 9 (Interfax) - Power unit 2 of the South Ukrainian
nuclear power plant was cut off from the national power grid at 5:37
p.m. on May 8 because of a false activation of a turbine safety system.
The reasons that prompted the false activation have been
eliminated, and the reactor is being brought to the minimum controllable
capacity level, the power plant's press service reported on Friday.
The restarting operations did not involve violations of safety
regulations, it said.
Power units 1 and 3 are operating as usual.
The radiation levels on the plant's territory are within the
permissible limits, it said.
