Officials deny allegations about inmates' hunger strike in Samara region
MOSCOW. May 9 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service
has denied allegations about a hunger strike of inmates at a
correctional facility in the Samara region.
"Reports that more than 1,000 inmates announced a hunger strike at
a correctional facility in the Samara region are not true," the Federal
Penitentiary Service's spokesman told Interfax on Friday.
Earlier, media outlets reported, citing human rights activists,
about a mass hunger strike at one of the prisons in the Samara region.
